The Friday night encounter between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was a see-saw battle, ultimately won by DC by six wickets. Australian debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk (55 off 35 balls) and Ayush Badoni (55 not out off 35 balls) were the stars with the bat for their respective teams.

LSG Post a Modest Total Thanks to Kuldeep Yadav's Stellar Spell

LSG, opting to bat first, got off to a decent start with Quinton de Kock (19) finding the boundary four times. However, the introduction of Kuldeep Yadav (3/20) in the eighth over triggered a batting collapse. The left-arm spinner cast a web of spin, dismissing Marcus Stoinis (8), Nicholas Pooran (0), and KL Rahul (39) in quick succession.

Earlier wickets of Devdutt Padikkal (3) and a dropped chance by Khaleel Ahmed (2/41) against Stoinis further restricted LSG's scoring. Ayush Badoni (55 not out off 35 balls) and Arshad Khan (20 off 16 balls) provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 73-run stand, helping LSG reach a respectable 167/7.

Pant and Fraser-McGurk Steer DC to Victory

In reply, DC openers Prithvi Shaw (32) and Rishabh Pant (41) looked promising but fell victim to Ravi Bishnoi and the LSG spinners. The dismissal of Shaw triggered a brief period of dominance for LSG's bowlers.

However, the turning point arrived when Pant brought up his 3,000th IPL run with a six and broke the shackles. The swashbuckling wicket-keeper played some audacious shots, including a reverse scoop, and provided valuable support to Fraser-McGurk.

The 22-year-old Australian announced himself on the IPL stage with a belligerent half-century (55 off 35 balls). He struck a crucial 77-run partnership with Pant, taking the game away from LSG. Fraser-McGurk smoked three sixes in a row off compatriot Marcus Stoinis, easing thepressure and guiding DC towards victory.

Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar Bolster DC's Bowling Attack

The DC bowling attack, featuring the returning Ishant Sharma (1/36) and Mukesh Kumar (1/41), also played a crucial role. Ishant and Mukesh accounted for Deepak Hooda (10) and Krunal Pandya (3) respectively, restricting LSG's batting freedom.

Player of the Match Performances

Kuldeep Yadav's three-wicket haul (3/20) in his four overs was instrumental in restricting LSG's batting. For DC, Jake Fraser-McGurk's debut knock of 55 runs and Ayush Badoni's unbeaten fifty (55 not out) were match-winning contributions.
