Heartbreak for Hardik Pandya in his captaincy debut! Rajasthan Royals dismantle Mumbai Indians with a dominant bowling performance and a fifty from the in-form Riyan Parag.

Royals Roast Mumbai Batting Order

Sanju Samson, winning the toss and electing to bowl first, unleashed his potent bowling attack. Trent Boult, the left-arm pacer, swung the new ball like a magician, removing both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan cheaply. The experienced Yuzvendra Chahal then spun a web around the middle order, leaving Mumbai reeling at a meagre 58/5 after 10 overs.

Pandya Fights Alone

The new skipper, Hardik Pandya, tried his best to resurrect the innings with a fighting 34 off just 21 deliveries. However, the lack of partnerships and a disciplined bowling display from Rajasthan meant Mumbai could only manage a paltry 125/9 in their 20 overs.

Buttler & Samson Set the Tone for Royals' Chase

Chasing a modest target, Rajasthan openers Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson provided a solid foundation. They played with caution initially, but once settled, they started finding the boundaries. Just as things were looking comfortable, Krunal Pandya dismissed Buttler for a well-made 27.

Parag Takes the Show by Storm

Enter the young gun, Riyan Parag. The 18-year-old sensation took the Wankhede Stadium by storm with a scintillating knock. He played some audacious shots, dispatching the Mumbai bowlers to all corners of the ground. His fifty, laced with six boundaries and two towering sixes, ensured a comfortable victory for the Royals.

Rajasthan Royals Roar at the Top

Rajasthan chased down the target with 27 balls to spare, registering their fourth convincing win of the season. This emphatic victory puts them firmly at the top of the points table. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are yet to find their winning formula and will need to regroup quickly to avoid falling further behind.

Who stole the show?
Trent Boult's impressive bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for only 22 runs, was a key factor in restricting Mumbai Indians to a low score. This paved the way for Rajasthan Royals' comfortable victory. This match belonged entirely to the bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals and the young batting prodigy, Riyan Parag. Mumbai Indians will have to address their batting woes if they want to challenge for the title.
